The Kettle Black which fall into top ten “talk of the town” restaurant in Melbourne by urbanspoon.com is located near The Shrine of Remembrance. The place is nice compare to other brunch place in Melbourne. It was painted with on outside. We visit this place during lunch time on Friday and it is quite busy. The friendly staff escort us to table and gave us the menu directly. We ordered Chai Latte and Ice Coffee ($6). For food, Mewah ordered special dish of the day, Seven Spiced Squid and Davin ordered House-made Coconut Yoghurt.
The Seven Spiced Squid is served with bean sprout and papaya seed. The name sounds amazing but the food is not impressive. The plating is quite cute and creative. However we forgot how much does it cost. The House Made Coconut Yoghurt is served with gluten-free grains, seeds and nuts, pear, citrus powders, fruits and flowers. It was so colorful and photogenic, the taste was standard and price is $13.
Overall, we think that this place is over-rated and not really worth to try. But maybe its because we order the wrong course, so we both are planning to visit this place again soon. But for now, we think that there are a lot of other places that you can splurge your money on.
